A weight loss secret…

Most weight loss epxerts will tell you that weight loss is simple…it is all about diet and exercise. The bottom line is if you do both, diet and exercise, then you will lose weight.

What these people don’t realize is that there is much more you can do about weight loss than just just diet and exercise….How you identify yourself can make or break your weight loss goal.

First of all, answer this question: how would you describe your current health? Would you describe yourself as ‘fat and ugly’ or ‘thin and fit’? Think about it and write down what you think about yourself on a piece of paper. Remember that this step is very important, as in this step you would be giving a self-imposed identity on yourself, whether positive or negative.

The next step is to follow-up on this by saying aloud some more positive and negative statements about yourself. Say that I am ugly’, ‘I am beautiful’, ‘I am fat’, ‘I am fit’, ‘I am thin and slim’.

Okay, did you realize any changes within yourself as you said those phrases aloud? You should have already noticed that when you utter the negative statements, you feel low and depressed about yourself. On the other hand, when you utter the positive statements, you give yourself a high and tend to have a positive outlook about yourself and life in general.

The secret to reaching any goal (especially your weight loss goal) is to think positive. What YOU think about yourself matters more than what the world thinks about you. If the world believes that you are fat and ugly, it should not bother you because your subconscious believes that you are thin and healthy. Having a positive identity about yourself has many advantages, just as having a negative identity can be harmful for your health.

For example, consider that you are following a certain diet plan. If you subconsciously identify yourself as a fat person, you will never be able to have any amount of success with any diet plan you use. You will be eating fatty foods because you think yourself to be fat. On the other hand, if you assume that you are slim, and then you will be eating what slim people eat, and doing the exercises that slim people do. Then, diet and exercise won’t look as hard as it does now because your entire outlook will be positive; you will be positive about reaching the weight loss goals you have setup for yourself.

Here’s another thing you should NOT do if you want to lose weight…

Don’t forget to exercise!

It’s amazing to us how many people truly want to lose weight, but how many people are simply unwilling to do what is necessary to lose that weight. If you really want to lose weight you must combine exercise with diet…it is really that simple.

Remember, that the surefire way to burn calories is to exercise. Exercise doesn’t mean that you have to spend hours on end at your local gym. However, you need to stick with your exercise schedule and do it regularly even if it is just for30 minutes per day. Create a schedule that allows you time during the day to get exercise and stick to the schedule!

**Disclaimer: Skipping exercise even for one day can prove harmful to your weight loss goal. :)

A few days ago we said “don’t go out on an empty stomach” if you want to lose weight…

Well today we have another “don’t” for you…

If you want to lose weight…Don’t count calories

Some people, especially those who follow fad diets such as Atkins diet or the South Beach diet, tend to count every calorie that they consume. That is too bad! You are preoccupying your mind with the thought that you have been deprived of something you want so badly, just because you are overweight. If you constantly think of the deprivation you will feel hungry all the time and your desire to eat the delicious, junk foods will only increase, thereby worsening your situation. For best results, don’t count your calories. Just make sure that you eat healthy, well-balanced meals with reasonable portions!
