Well, then simply combine the last several weight loss tips.

This weight loss concept is simple…

500 calories = 1 pound

Therefore to lose 1 pound a week you must either burn an extra 500 calories through exercise OR eat 500 less calories through dieting.

However, if you want to double your efforts and really start to lose weight fast…simply do both.

Maybe start off with just one…lets say dieting, but then by the second week of dieting start to add exercise and you will start to see your weight loss efforts really pay off.

Well…here’s an added bonus when losing weight through exercise…

When you exercise, you build muscle by converting it from fat.

And guess what….Your body uses more energy to maintain and feed muscle than it does fat (even when you’re not exercising).

Yesterday’s weight loss tip focused on the “1 pound/week weight loss goal”, but instead of dieting for weight loss, it focused on exercising for weight loss.

However, the same basic concept holds true for both weight loss strategies… a pound a week =500 calories.

So, how easy is it to “burn” an extra 500 calories a week?

Let’s take a look at some of the simple things you can do to meet this weight loss goal:

1. Take a half-hour brisk walk around the park. Burn: 160 calories.
2. Go for a 5-mile bike ride with a few small hills Burn: 250 calories.
3. Go dancing for an hour – and really DANCE. (Plus, the more you’re dancing the less you’re drinking :) ) Burn: 400 calories.
4. Swimming is great way to burn calories. Start slow, but work your way up to an hour swim. Burn: 510 calories.
5. Get out into your garden for an hour. The bending and stretching can burn up to as many calories as a brisk walk. Burn: 200 calories.
6. Play a game of tennis. Hook up with a friend for a weekly tennis game and you’ll be amazed at the difference. One hour of vigorous tennis is one of the best calorie burners around. Burn: 800 calories

The bottom line: If you want to meet your weight loss goal by burning an extra 500 calories a week it really is not that difficult. The real trick is to find something active that YOU enjoy to do.
